A single broadsheet newspaper, Section One of the Dallas Morning News dated Dallas, Texas, Friday, April 13, 1945, thirty pages in two sections. The front page carries the banner headline 'The President Is Dead' in very large bold type across the full width, with a sub-headline reading 'Executive Succumbs At Warm Springs, Ga., Rites Set Saturday.' A halftone portrait photograph of Franklin D. Roosevelt occupies the lower left of the front page alongside a second photograph showing a group scene. The paper is heavily tanned and yellowed throughout, consistent with aged newsprint, with visible creasing, edge fraying, and fold lines. The masthead identifies it as the Metropolitan Edition, price five cents, and notes the paper was founded in Galveston April 11, 1842, and established in Dallas October 1, 1885.
