Cup-hilt rapier with plain polished bowl guard

A rapier with a large hemispherical cup-hilt guard formed from a single plain sheet of polished steel, showing surface pitting, light rust patches, and uneven discolouration across the bowl. The outer rim of the cup is encircled by a plain round-section steel hoop, and a single curved quillon extends below the cup terminating in a small spherical pommel-side button. The grip is wrapped in what appears to be dark braided wire or cord, partially deteriorated. The blade is slender, straight, and double-edged tapering to a point, consistent with a thrusting rapier. A second similar rapier with a heavily blackened and pitted bowl is visible in one photograph for comparison but is not this catalogued item.

- Bowl shows significant surface corrosion, pitting, and patchy discolouration; grip wrap is worn and partially degraded; quillon and hoop retain polish with some pitting; blade appears intact with light surface oxidation.
